Why House Churches? Why gather weekly in houses and not in a traditional or modern “gathered” church expression?
Well, firstly, great question. Secondly, we have a lot to say about this, so we’ll try to keep it brief here…the short answer is - transformation.
We LOVE the gathered church expression, in fact, we believe in it so much that all our House Churches get together once a month for what we call the first Sunday “All Together.”
So much essential stuff happens at All-Togethers. Worship. Ministry. Storytelling. Communion. We love it. Still, as much as we love it, we’ve found the gathered expression to be very informational and especially inspirational - even catalytic. However, it’s been our experience growing up in the gathered expression that it wasn’t highly transformational.
We recently sought the Lord about our church’s job. We got two words in return - transformational discipleship.
So, if the job is transformational discipleship, then we want to invest our time, energy, and resources where we get the greatest return toward our transformation. For us, that’s in House Churches because we know we are formed in families.
How many House Churches are there? Where are they?
We get these questions a lot.
Currently (Spring of 2023), we have nine House Churches, and more are in the development pipeline. We also have 30 House Church leaders being equipped through Leader School, our in-house leadership development program designed to raise up safe, skilled, and Spirit-filled House Church Leaders. So, we are sure more House Churches are to come soon.
Gathering Network House Churches are all over the KC Metro area - Midtown, Brookside, Lenexa, Stillwell, Springhill, Peculiar, Overland Park, and Prairie Village.
