new time, new location, new rhythm

Our new rhythm for 2012 will be:

  • 1st & 3rd Sundays of every month: missional communities (IN & OUT), meeting all around the city
  • 2nd & 4th Sundays of every month (and 5th if there is one): celebration services (UP), 5pm at Cedar Ridge Christian Church

Why the new rhythm?

  1. To imitate Jesus by putting into practice a regular rhythm of the 3 loves
    • love God [UP]
    • love each other [IN]
    • love the world [OUT]
  2. To make the space in our schedule to accomplish this
It has been said the church is much like a professional football game: 22 players on the field badly in need of rest with 70,000 fans in the stands badly in need of exercise! The sober truth is that most of our spiritual lives need exercise more than more meals (sermons and services). However we all know that exercise rarely happens if it's not intentionally scheduled.

Most of us only live out one or two of the three loves. Collectively we want to re-orient our whole lives to imitate all three loves of Jesus. In an effort to practically make space in our schedules we'll begin the Sunday/weekly rhythm of missional communities and celebration services.

Generally we encourage missional communities to meet on the first and third Sundays of the month; however, each missional community has different missional objectives and may meet at a different time than the first or third Sundays of the month. Check out our missional community page for details on when and where each one meets. (If you're not connected to a missional community but want to learn more, join us for a missional community taster beginning Feb 19th, where we'll talk about the gathering network's vision and language, discipleship, and missional communities. Click for more information.)

Our celebration services will be held on the second and fourth Sundays of every month. If there is a fifth Sunday in a month, we'll have our celebration service and dedicate it to all worship and prayer.

God's design for us is to move from fans to players. Let the exercise begin!
