WHO: Anyone interested in helping refugees rebuild their new lives. We get to share life and build a community of deep and lasting friendships while pointing them to Jesus.
WHEN: Every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:30pm we gather to serve the Bhutanese. We have 3 opportunities to serve this community: teaching English to Bhutanese adults, leading a small group at Kids Club, or being a mentor at Teens Club. This is the best place to begin friendships with the Bhutanese. As we serve them together we learn also how to share life. As we share life and build community, we also learn how to share the truth and love of Jesus generously and always. The Friends of the Bhutanese missional community meets often for prayer, fellowship, study of the Word and to share a meal. Coming to serve on Tuesday night is the first step in becoming a part of our missional community.
WHERE: Contact us for locations of our Tuesday nights.
WHY: Over the past couple of years more than 400 refugees from Bhutan have resettled in Kansas City, Kansas. Without any understanding or knowledge of American culture, they travel from their bamboo tents in Nepal, which they have called home for over 20 years, straight to the big city to start their new lives. They are experiencing a cultural earthquake and we get to help them rebuild their lives here in our own city.
